Dark Star Ltd. is headed by a dedicated preservation specialist, designer, and master carpenter.
We bring to each project passion for historical accuracy. We develop as-built drawings, historic code compliance reviews and full construction documents, in addition to offering architectural millwork, furniture and antique restoration services.
We pride ourselves on our ability to create historically accurate, true divided light windows, for any residential or commercial need.
Our background of working with historical buildings, and years of experience as a member of the local Landmarks Commission, gives us the ability to provide designs that are appropriate, sensitive, affordable, and likely to meet historic preservation review bodies' approval.
We promote the adaptive reuse of historic buildings , enhancing their inherent character while maintaining compliance with Local, State and Federal Historic standards.
It is our belief that the greatest sense of 'green design' is the preservation and reuse of historic buildings and this is the essence of all we do.

The School of Hard Knots teaches the basics in tool
choice, wood selection, joinery, turning, and many
other facets of the craft. Above all, it teaches that
having fun, while always focusing on safety, is key
to building confidence.
The classes are geared toward the individual student
and his or her schedule. Each student is encouraged
to follow at their own pace. We don’t run assembly-line
lessons where everyone builds the same birdhouse
or tie rack. Our students will be working together and
even learn from each other while producing a project
as individual as they are.
